Using a disposable plastic syringe, inject unthickened epoxy into the lap seams from outside so that it fills the rivet holes. The epoxy that flows into the rivet holes forms keys that helps to further lock the hull's shape. In the sections closest to the stems where there isn't much of a gap between the planks, very carefully pry the laps apart with a thin plastic putty knife or sharpened tongue depressor just enough for some of the epoxy to seep in. You can tell when the epoxy has filled the rivet holes because the tape will change color a little when the epoxy hits the back of it.
Allow the epoxy to partially cure until it's firm enough that it won't sag or run, and remove the tape strips. If you wait until it's completely cured it won't hurt anything, it will just be harder to remove.
