Glassing the garboards
Mix 4 oz. of un-thickened epoxy and, starting at the middle of the boat, begin
saturating the fiberglass until the cloth starts to turn clear. Using a plastic squeegee,
spread any excess resin toward one end, working out wrinkles as you go.
Brush on additional epoxy as you go until all of the cloth is clear. Your goal is to
have all of the cloth turn clear, but still be able to see the texture of the cloth
surface. If too much epoxy is put on, the cloth will float on top of it, causing wrinkles
and puckers. Squeegee out any excess and clean up any runs or drips while they're still easy to clean up.
