Assembling the planks; applying the gluing mixture

After the saturation coat has soaked into the layers of the scarf joint, mix another 1/2 oz. cup of epoxy, and stir in enough WEST #403 Microfibers filler to make a thick honey consistency. Using a disposable brush, apply this gluing mixture generously to the steps of both scarfs. Wipe up any spilled or dripped epoxy immediately and put a small piece of waxed paper on the spill area.

Flip the shorter plank piece over and slide the two halves together so that the scarf's steps
are together tightly and aligned correctly. You will have to look at the plank's edges to see if the scarf is assembled correctly. Press down on the scarf with your hand; a small amount of the gluing mixture should squeeze out of the joint when pressure is applied. If none squeezes out, take the scarf apart and apply a little more of the gluing mix.
