Build a QuickLap canoe with ShopBot

I was first introduced to Ted and ShopBot when I bought a copy of Ted's BtDzn software. Included with the software was information on a low-cost CNC tool that Ted was working on. I kept in touch, went to Durham a year or so later to see a working version, and signed up on the spot. A couple of months later I took delivery of ShopBot #2 ( or #3, nobody's really sure). One of the things that Ted asked me to do with my new ShopBot was to build a small canoe for his mother-in-law to use on their annual family trip to Michigan. I not only wanted to build her a boat that would be light, paddle easily, and be pretty, but would also:

be easy to build using the precision of CNC cutting, and
be difficult to do any other way.

After a couple of false starts, this new QuickLap method of building lapstrake boats had produced "Honey's canoe". The cutting files that are on the download site are for the 13'6" version, which took second place in the 1998 Mid Atlantic Small Craft Festival.

Here's the deal with using these cutting files. You can build one boat for your own use ( or to give away ) at no charge; I would love to see a bunch of them built, so please give it a try. If you want to build additional boats, build boats for sale, or sell kits, there's a $40 fee for each boat that you cut. Contact me for more information at:
